Cleaning Aid

by Keith Robinson
(Cottingham, UK)

Excellent household product

Excellent household product

This general pupose cleaning medium is really useful to the stained glass community. The packaging shows general household cleaning applications, cookers etc, but I have used it very successfully to clean lead came prior to soldering and for final clean up of a finished panel. When using it on lead it can be repeatedly washed out. The piece shown has been used for hours and its only just started to suffer physically. Its like an ultra fine abrasive but quite soft so it moulds round whatever you apply it to. Leaves no marks on lead but just a few passes leaves anything totally clean and grease free.

I Agree

Hi Keith,

In the USA they are called Mr Clean Magic Erasers. I use them all the time for household cleaning, and recommend them to everyone. However, I have never tried them on my glass work. I use one on my next panel and see how it goes. Thanks for the tip.

Sue
