Designs in copper foil lifting

I have a piece I am working on that I have added a design that I cut out of copper foil and added to the glass - the foil doesn't stick to the glass once the solder touches it - what am I doing wrong? The design doesn't touch any edge - I have cleaned the glass as suggested and I'm still haveing the problem - Help!
AnswerI wouldn't say that you're doing anything wrong. I've never had much luck with foil staying put when it was just stuck to the surface of the glass without attaching it to other solder lines.
The other problem you can run into with large pieces of foil overlay is cracking the glass while you're soldering.
The technique I use is to put the foil overlay on a piece of metal, tile, granite, anything hard that won't burn, and solder it there. Clean off the flux, then pull the foil off and glue it to the glass.
