Endless Bamboo

by Amie
(Gibsons, B.C., Canada)

This was a glass on glass piece I did on the original window. I removed the window and put up a board while the project was in process. The original window was sandblasted on the outside.

Unfortunately I sold the house and the piece with it but I recreated a portion of the design in smaller pieces.

Hope you like it!!

The how of it NEW
by: Anonymous

Hi Everyone - thanks for your comments.

I worked on the original pane of glass that was in the window. I removed it so I could adhere my pattern to it and work on it. I used Weldbond for glue. The only thing is that the inner pieces took a long time to dry. You can use various other glues - such as silicone to adhere stained glass to plate glass. Check glass glues on the internet.

The grout between the pieces may run a little if not thick enough and that is why I sandblast the back of the piece to obscure that if it happens.

Will try to get a close up picture of the piece.

Regards
Amie

It's beautiful! I'm not sure what you mean by "glass on glass" unless it was replacing the original with clear glass and installing the stained glass panel over it.

Very nice! NEW
by: Lisa Seger

I have never done a glass on glass piece. Do you use a special glue to affix the pieces? So no soldering would be required? It's a nice idea, and seems like it might be easier than trying to fit the clear glass background around some of the more intricate pieces of your design. I'd like to know what type of glue you used.

What People
Are Saying

You can't imagine how much I wish I had found your incredible website before I spent many hundreds of dollars on lessons, dvd's, tutorials, etc. I can tell that everything I need to know can be found here. All I can say is "Thank You!" Larry

I can't thank you enough for this site. The new search feature is amazing and it makes it so easy to find exactly what I am looking for. Thank you again! Laurie

Your site is fantastic! I took a six week class four years ago and recently started again (after forgetting almost everything I learned!). I have to say that your site is excellent and I can't wait to practice the techniques you've shown. Scarlet

I'm a subscriber to your "Stained Glass Gems" and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your wonderful site! This is by far the best glass site I've run across. I recently purchased your publication on Patina FAQ and it's very helpful for me... I like to have hard copies of info so I added it to my library. Suzanna
