Eyes for Copper Foil Projects

Is it possible to place a bead of solder somewhere that is not connected to a solder line i.e. a dot for an eye or something like that.

Answer

A bead of solder will not stick to glass by itself. However, you can make beads of solder by dropping solder on scrap glass (put a little flux on the glass first. Pull the bead loose when it has cooled, wipe it off with alcohol, then glue the bead to the suncatcher or whatever you are making. E6000 glue works very well for that.

You can also paint eyes on with a paint pen (from a craft store). Make sure you get permanent paint. Painty is a good brand.

This Really Works
by: john fusion glassworks

i have had good success with this method,it might take a little practise but it really works well, cut out the eye or piece you need out of copper foil, they sell sheets of copper foil so that way you can cut out what ever you need, remove backing of copper foil and place at the desired location, press on glass, lightly flux the foil, then with your soldering iron heat the soldier on to the copper foil, you can built a nice size bead on it.....
