Free Quilt Patterns to use
for Stained Glass

When using these free quilt patterns, please abide by all terms of use and copyright information as well as other requests of the artists. These quilt patterns make wonderful stained glass patterns. Stained glass patterns have been used by quilters for many years and we have since found that quilt patterns are equally nice for stained glass.

Here you will find 100's of quilt patterns, in color and black-and-white. Even though they are for quilts, most of them are quite appropriate for stained glass patterns with out having to change a thing. They are all easy enough for beginners, but any skill level could have fun with them.

The majority of these quilt patterns are geometric, but you will also find things like cats, fish, frogs, bugs, butterflies, angels, fruit, flowers and so much more.

You could have fun making a stained glass quilt, incorporating four or more squares and using it as a stained glass window or a window hanging. How about 5 or 6 squares (or however many it might take) joined together in a single row, hanging across the top of a kitchen or living room window. Let your imagination take over.

Free Pansy Pattern from the Stitchin Post
This is a pattern for a single pansy. It has a lot of potential for many applications. It would make a wonderful box lid (with some added outside pieces), a kaleidoscope wheel with each petalbroken up into 3 or four pieces of different colors, add a stem and leaves for a suncatcher, or use several for a small hanging panel. I'll stop there, although my brain is still churning them out!

RJR Fabrics
The "Mariposa" quilt would make an outstanding stained glass panel. It just needs a few added cut linesto make it work as a stained glass pattern.

Are Saying

You can't imagine how much I wish I had found your incredible website before I spent many hundreds of dollars on lessons, dvd's, tutorials, etc. I can tell that everything I need to know can be found here. All I can say is "Thank You!" Larry

I can't thank you enough for this site. The new search feature is amazing and it makes it so easy to find exactly what I am looking for. Thank you again! Laurie

Your site is fantastic! I took a six week class four years ago and recently started again (after forgetting almost everything I learned!). I have to say that your site is excellent and I can't wait to practice the techniques you've shown. Scarlet

I'm a subscriber to your "Stained Glass Gems" and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your wonderful site! This is by far the best glass site I've run across. I recently purchased your publication on Patina FAQ and it's very helpful for me... I like to have hard copies of info so I added it to my library. Suzanna
