Glass Supplies

by Chris
(Dallas, TX; USA)

After 25 years, I am getting back into stained glass. I can not find any supply stores in Dallas, TX beyond the craft store type.
I want to buy A)50 feet of lead came,
B) textured clear glass in large sizes (not the 12 x 12 inch size),
C) a new glass cutter with an oil barrel,
D) a strip cutter (which of the 3 you sited is most economical/good?
Can you recommend a place in Dallas, or an on-line source you feel is honest, dependable, and economical.
(Next, I'll be asking for world peace!)
Thank you so much for any help you can offer.
Your web site is fabulous! All these questions make me sound like a complete novice.

Answer

I don't know of any stained glass shops in Dallas, but probably someone reading this can help. If they can, the answer will be in the comments section just below here.

There are many online businesses that are reputable. Warner Crivellaro, Glass Crafters, and Delphi are all places that I do business with. I'm sure there are many more, and again, I'm sure other people will chime in with their favorites.

If you want a strip cutter that you will only use occasionally, Glastar or Inland are the least expensive. I really like the Scoreboard, but it is more expensive and hard to find. I emailed the company last week, asking who carried it, but so far, no answer.

What People
Are Saying

You can't imagine how much I wish I had found your incredible website before I spent many hundreds of dollars on lessons, dvd's, tutorials, etc. I can tell that everything I need to know can be found here. All I can say is "Thank You!" Larry

I can't thank you enough for this site. The new search feature is amazing and it makes it so easy to find exactly what I am looking for. Thank you again! Laurie

Your site is fantastic! I took a six week class four years ago and recently started again (after forgetting almost everything I learned!). I have to say that your site is excellent and I can't wait to practice the techniques you've shown. Scarlet

I'm a subscriber to your "Stained Glass Gems" and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your wonderful site! This is by far the best glass site I've run across. I recently purchased your publication on Patina FAQ and it's very helpful for me... I like to have hard copies of info so I added it to my library. Suzanna
