How can I make a circle with zinc channel.

Hello. I want to make a circle from zinc channel, to frame a piece of stained glass.I have a came bender (which I am not sure how to use), but when I try ,the 1/4 in. zinc channel, gets all out of shape.
Any avice on making the circle, or indeed on operating the came bender
Thank You

Answer

I have never use a came bender and use zinc very seldom. I do the majority of my work in lead came.

I do know that zinc doesn't bend well, especially into a circle. Perhaps someone reading this can give you an answer. If they do, it will be in the comments section below.

According to instructions that came with my zinc bender, it is best to make 2 halves and solder together. I guess depending on the size of the zinc it can be nearly impossible to open the circle up enough to insert the panel.

when using the came roller start with light pressure gradually tightening as you roll the came. It will take several trips thru the rollers, also make sure the came stays flat. I have made several projects with good results

Good luck and great rollong

Are Saying

You can't imagine how much I wish I had found your incredible website before I spent many hundreds of dollars on lessons, dvd's, tutorials, etc. I can tell that everything I need to know can be found here. All I can say is "Thank You!" Larry

I can't thank you enough for this site. The new search feature is amazing and it makes it so easy to find exactly what I am looking for. Thank you again! Laurie

Your site is fantastic! I took a six week class four years ago and recently started again (after forgetting almost everything I learned!). I have to say that your site is excellent and I can't wait to practice the techniques you've shown. Scarlet

I'm a subscriber to your "Stained Glass Gems" and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your wonderful site! This is by far the best glass site I've run across. I recently purchased your publication on Patina FAQ and it's very helpful for me... I like to have hard copies of info so I added it to my library. Suzanna
