How do I clean Large projects?

by Jean
(West End, NC, USA)

When cleaning a very large panel prior to patina, how do you suggest to clean if transporting it to water is difficult? I work on a second floor level and would need to carry my project outside to a spigot to clean a large panel from flux and patina etc.

Answer

If you have a bathtub on the second floor, that would work for cleaning your panels. Just make sure you place some towels in the tub before you put the glass in.

If you don't have a tub, you can clean it on your work bench. Put towels under the panel, large enough to catch water. Have a roll of paper towels on hand for wiping the panel. Use a basin full of warm water to clean with. I've had to do this on a couple of occasions. It's time consuming and messy, but it works.
