How to convert a picture into a moisac pattern ?

by rohinton
(mumbai india)

I have a picture, and I would like to convert it into a mosaic picture, before making a Stained Glass mosaic of the same, how would you do it ?

Answer

I'm sorry but I can't answer your question, as I don't work with mosaics. Hopefully someone reading this has had experience with mosaics and can give you an answer. If they can help you, the answer will be in the comments section below.

Mosaic NEW
by: Libby

I made a mosaic glass pattern by cutting out the shapes I wanted and glueing them on the surface with just a bit of space between the pieces. Because the spaces were too narrow for traditional grout, I used an apoxy type filler, available at Lowe's. The pattern is the same as for any other project, it is just that you place the pieces spaced out a bit. I allowed for that by cutting the pieces slightly smaller than the original pattern. Do expect to make adjustments as you lay the pieces out to glue. Good luck!

Moisac pattern from pictures NEW
by: Judi (Oklahoma)

Sue has a great tutorial for creating a stained glass pattern from a picture. It worksd great I have tried it myself. You can use the same tutorial for moisac. The only difference is you do not have to be as particular about the cut lines since you are not going to be using a came. Do allow for more space between your individual objects. This will allow for more definition in the finshed project when you grout. I hope this has helped. Have fun.

What People
Are Saying

You can't imagine how much I wish I had found your incredible website before I spent many hundreds of dollars on lessons, dvd's, tutorials, etc. I can tell that everything I need to know can be found here. All I can say is "Thank You!" Larry

I can't thank you enough for this site. The new search feature is amazing and it makes it so easy to find exactly what I am looking for. Thank you again! Laurie

Your site is fantastic! I took a six week class four years ago and recently started again (after forgetting almost everything I learned!). I have to say that your site is excellent and I can't wait to practice the techniques you've shown. Scarlet

I'm a subscriber to your "Stained Glass Gems" and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your wonderful site! This is by far the best glass site I've run across. I recently purchased your publication on Patina FAQ and it's very helpful for me... I like to have hard copies of info so I added it to my library. Suzanna
