Custom shaped window
Thank you very much for this wonderful website, I've found it very helpful indeed. I would like to make a came leaded window for the larger central window of the door in the attached photo. However, it has a curved top and I am unsure of how to go about measuring it correctly. I would sincerely appreciate it if you could also provide me with some advise regarding the construction of such a window - does it differ from a square window? Kind regards, Marriët Geldenhuys (South Africa)(email: info@mkphoto.co.za)
AnswerTo measure the window, it would be best to make a template. The easiest way to do it is to take out the existing glass, lay it on paper and trace around it.
Cut out the tracing and put it in the window opening. It should fit exactly. If it doeasn't make the necessary alterations.
You now have a template the you can make your cartoon from.
As for constructing the window, it will be no different than a square window. The only difference being is the top will be curved instead of straight. Your perimeter lead will easily bend around that curve.
