Medieval Stain Glass Patterns Needed

by Ronald Arney
(Tucson, AZ, USA)

I am helping my son do research for his history class and he has to do it on, of all things, the history of stain glass during medieval times, and he has to do a piece depicting this time period. Do you know of any sites where I can down load examples of patterns from medieval Europe.

Hi Ronald,

I found a few patterns for you, as well as some good photographs of medieval windows. When you look at the photographs, you will see that a lot of the windows have features that have been painted and fired. I'm sure you don't want to get that exacting. However, the pictures could give you some ideas for an easier project that would still depict the medieval era.

Here is what I found:

This site has Photographs of Medieval Windows.

Here is a School Project making a medieval window.

You can find a few simple patterns at Warner Crivellaro Patterns.

Another Pattern can be found here.

Finally, a book with some medieval patterns is "Stained Glass Pattern Book" By Ed Sibbett. There are 88 workable designs for beginners, intermediates, skilled. From medieval to modern, much Art Nouveau.

I hope this information will help you,
Sue
