Pattern Question

by Frannie
(Grafton wv)

not understaning the extra panels with the mirrors

not understaning the extra panels with the mirrors

not understaning the extra panels with the mirrors basic panels of the lamp these mirror parts are very long..must be parts missing to continue the size? extra panels?

This may be an odd question..but here goes..I have spent days and days looking for a pattern for a lamp that is right in front of me. My dad before he passed away had begun to make a pyramid shaped lamp for me for my birthday. Before he could finish it and before he could move it robbers had broken into the house where it was and had broken it. Some time later he past away and while going thru his things I found the partially broken lamp. I want to fix it for my birthday but I am not sure where to find the pattern to recut the broken parts..any suggestions?

Answer

Are there pieces that aren't broken that you could use as a pattern for the broken pieces?

As for the extra panels with the mirror, I don't understand them either. Perhaps someone reading this has seen the pattern and would be able to help you. if so, they will reply in the comments section just below.

Pattern missing NEW
by: Brad B

The mirror pieces seem to be from another project. They appear to be foiled in the picture so I would have to guess that they are from something else.

As far as the pattern goes. You have the pattern. It is a fairly easy task to do a "Rubbing" by placing a blank piece of paper over the assembled panel and using a pencil run it back and forth over the lead lines. Alternatively you can trace around the panel to get the triangle shape and use a ruler draw in what is missing.

It looks like its going to be a really nice lamp when its done.

Are Saying

You can't imagine how much I wish I had found your incredible website before I spent many hundreds of dollars on lessons, dvd's, tutorials, etc. I can tell that everything I need to know can be found here. All I can say is "Thank You!" Larry

I can't thank you enough for this site. The new search feature is amazing and it makes it so easy to find exactly what I am looking for. Thank you again! Laurie

Your site is fantastic! I took a six week class four years ago and recently started again (after forgetting almost everything I learned!). I have to say that your site is excellent and I can't wait to practice the techniques you've shown. Scarlet

I'm a subscriber to your "Stained Glass Gems" and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your wonderful site! This is by far the best glass site I've run across. I recently purchased your publication on Patina FAQ and it's very helpful for me... I like to have hard copies of info so I added it to my library. Suzanna
