Rebuilding a wood grid window

I'm trying to re build the wood grid for this window (I have three of them in the house), and the wood is rotting away.
I'm thinking of lead came as a replacement. Does this even make sense? I'm a total beginner.
AnswerHi Michael,
Yes, it can be done, but it would take someone with some experience to do it. In your email to me, you said you would look for a class in your area. That's the way to go if you want to do it yourself. The leading itself isn't going to be difficult, but getting the panels to end up being the correct size will be tricky for you, and reinstalling them will take the help of more than one person.
I'm sure you'll be able to do it with a good teacher to guide you. Make sure you find a class that teaches lead work. Many instructors don't teach lead anymore because they don't know how to do it. Call Victor Rothman for Stained Glass Inc. in Yonkers and see if he can tell you where you can find a class in your area that teaches the lead came technique. I'm pretty sure he'll be able to help you
