Round Window Humming Bird Window Bathroom Windows Snake Mosaic

I have made several windows using either copper foil or lead or a combination of both. I have a 32" round window in my home that I wanted to replace with a stained glass window. I selected my pattern and cut and ground all the pieces. When I had them on my board (34" square I made for the window) I saw that I didn't have an edge. It was then that I realized I did not know how to lead a round window. I called the owner of the local stained glass shop and she said, "I start with my largest piece." My largest piece was a petal and I didn't know how it would end up a circle. I searched the Web, but didn't find what I needed. I wrote Sue for help. (Earlier, she'd sent an email saying she was caring for her mother so I worried that she was unavailable.) To my surprise, she responded quickly and gave me directions on how to start. It is wonderful to get help when you need it! It took me three days to lead this window. I had to re-grind every piece--even the bevels. I worried about getting the right dimensions because they had to be exact or Modern Glass would not accept it for installation. I am happy to say that with Sue's help it is now installed.

The Hummingbird window is 34" X 20" This is my design (my first) and I love the colors. I used scraps for the blue backgroun so it is light and dark. I fell in love with the orange but cannot get more as it has been discontinued.

The bathroom windows are both 30" x 8" I can slide one window open.

The mosaic is made with mostly opaque glass. My daughter outlined the snakes and the plant and my job was to fill in the rest and translate her idea into this 3' X 2' panel. She put it in her kitchen at the back of her stove.

True Artist!
by: Libby C:

You are a truly an artist!!! Your Hummingbird piece is astounding! The round window shows how meticulous you are about getting everything to be a perfect, tight fit. I am impessed, especially because your work uses a LOT of pieces, which I know represents a LOT of work. I'd like to see more of your work. Very impressive!

I think a lot of use owe Sue thank you's for helping us in time of confusion or not knowing how to proceed. Your pieces are lovely, I would be proud of them too.
Thanks Sue for all the help you provide daily to everyone who is willing to go to your site. We do not always think of saying "thank you". Trusting that all is well with your mom.

What People
Are Saying

You can't imagine how much I wish I had found your incredible website before I spent many hundreds of dollars on lessons, dvd's, tutorials, etc. I can tell that everything I need to know can be found here. All I can say is "Thank You!" Larry

I can't thank you enough for this site. The new search feature is amazing and it makes it so easy to find exactly what I am looking for. Thank you again! Laurie

Your site is fantastic! I took a six week class four years ago and recently started again (after forgetting almost everything I learned!). I have to say that your site is excellent and I can't wait to practice the techniques you've shown. Scarlet

I'm a subscriber to your "Stained Glass Gems" and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your wonderful site! This is by far the best glass site I've run across. I recently purchased your publication on Patina FAQ and it's very helpful for me... I like to have hard copies of info so I added it to my library. Suzanna
