Storage For Scrap Glass

by Keith Robinson
(Cottingham, UK)

I bought this stack of six storage drawers from a local office supplies shop (Staples) for a few pounds. They are supposed to be for office use but I find them very usefull for glass scraps, sorted by colour. As they are constucted from tough nylon type material they can take a lot of weight, and be removed for benchtop investigation without cracking (like the drawers in a fridge tend to do) They come with castors and can either be stacked with others or broken down into 2s or 3s etc. Inexpensive and functional - what more could you want?

storing scrap glass NEW
by: Joan

When originally cutting glass I keep a clean mayo jar or empty spagetti sauce jar on the cutting table. When I have small scraps, they go directly into the jar thus sorting the glass by color in wait for a mosiac project. The jars of different colored glass accumulate for a nice colorful display on shelf.

I use the same and get mine at Big Lots or the dollar store as they are much cheaper than Staples or Wal-Mart.

Glass Storage - Save Money NEW
by: Foggy Bottom Designs

I use the same system for storing glass scraps. I get them from WalMart or similar stores when they are having a sale. Always need extra seperations when colors vary too much in one bin.

My storage is this:
Ice cream boxes for any that will fit. There are some pretty good ice cream boxes. Anything larger goes into the regular storage bins

Great Storage Idea NEW
by: Anonymous

Hi Keith,

Those do make good storage units for scrap glass. I'll have to see if Staples carries something similar here in the USA. I could use a complete studio clean-up and they would be ideal to get organized.

What People
Are Saying

You can't imagine how much I wish I had found your incredible website before I spent many hundreds of dollars on lessons, dvd's, tutorials, etc. I can tell that everything I need to know can be found here. All I can say is "Thank You!" Larry

I can't thank you enough for this site. The new search feature is amazing and it makes it so easy to find exactly what I am looking for. Thank you again! Laurie

Your site is fantastic! I took a six week class four years ago and recently started again (after forgetting almost everything I learned!). I have to say that your site is excellent and I can't wait to practice the techniques you've shown. Scarlet

I'm a subscriber to your "Stained Glass Gems" and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your wonderful site! This is by far the best glass site I've run across. I recently purchased your publication on Patina FAQ and it's very helpful for me... I like to have hard copies of info so I added it to my library. Suzanna
