The Toyo Custom
Grip Glass Cutter

custom grip cutter The Toyo Custom Grip glass cutter is one of two small oil cutters made by Toyo. Both are small and have a saddle that fits between your thumb and your index finger rather than holding them like a pencil or a pistol grip. They give you a lot of flexibility.

These cutters are used less often than the pencil or pistol grip, but I think many people would switch to either one if they had a chance to try them and see how easy they are to hold and control.

The other cutter is described at Toyo Thomas Grip Glass Cutter

The Custom Grip has a saddle, built into the barrel. The saddle is adjustable to four different heights which makes it fit almost every hand size.

This cutter has a revolutionary cutting wheel called a "tap wheel". The tap wheel is exclusive to this particular Toyo glass cutter only (it will not fit any other Toyo cutter). The axle bore has eight microscopic cams creating eight "taps" per revolution of the wheel. This allows the score to be driven deeper into the glass, while using less pressure, resulting in a longer wheel life and a clean, consistent score.

Parts of the Toyo Custom Grip Glass Cutter

The oil cap is taken off and the black piece that looks like a ring can be placed either on top of or below the black piece with the saddle. The black piece with the saddle can be flipped over so the saddle is either high or low. You now have four different heights for the saddlle, and a way to hold your glass cutter that is comfortable for any hand size.
