by Jenna

Hi I like your water prism and would like to make one.
My questin is if I choose to make a silver one should I thin both sides of the trangels before applying silicon!

Thank you
Jenna

Answer

If you trim both sides, the silicone will show through the glass. You can save yourself some trouble and use silver backed foil.

Hi,

Thanks for your quick response.

The silver backed copper foil sold in my area is in fact two colors sided, copper color outside and the sticky side, the underneath has a silver lining.
I will use silver backed foil for the triangles.
Should I thin the (copper side) the outside of the triangles first to make the copper part to look silver. And later on apply the clear silicone?
I think if I apply the silicone first and then thin the foil I?ll burn the silicone.
Thank you.

Answer

Hi Jenna,

Just do it the way the directions say. Any copper color will be covered with solder, so the copper shouldn't show. If you're concerned about copper showing, Venture makes an all silvered foil...silver on both sides.
