Ways to Frame Foiled Pieces

My stained glass pieces are starting to look petty good until it comes to the framing. I have been using zinc and soldering them at the corners this looks messy and unprofessional and there is a difference in the color of the zinc and solder after a bit of time. I need help and advise on framing my foiled pieces. Thanks

Hi Liz,

Here is a tutorial on other ways to finish off a copper foiled panel.

As well as the methods shown in the tutorial, you could also use brass came or a decorative brass edging. Here is what the decorative edging looks like.

If you want to continue using zinc, you could paint over the zinc and solder. Rustoleum works very well. It is an oil based paint that is made for metal. Model paints that are lacquer based also work well, with the added bonus that they completely dry in 3 mins. A third option is black automotive paint. It is hard to find in small amounts, but perhaps you could find a small can of touch-up paint.
